Welcome to another useful tutorial. In this tutorial, we’re going to show you how to add a secondary axis to a chart in excel. By adding a secondary axis to a graph, you can present two sets of data on the same graph, instead of making a separate graph for each data set. This tutorial will surely help those who just started learning MS excel.
So here we have our line graph and we have two lines here corresponding with two different sets of data. As you can see that both the data set lines (Data 1 and Data 2) are showing on a single Y-axis and it is difficult to find values for each data set on the same axis. So it’s better to add a separate axis for Data 2 so that we can easily read the graph.
Here are the steps to add a secondary axis to the graph:
How to Add a Secondary Y-Axis in a Graph in Excel
- Right-click on the line you want to show on the secondary axis and select Format Data Series.
- Now on the right sidebar, select Secondary Axis.
- That’s it. Now the Data 2 values are showing on the secondary Y-axis which is on the right side of the graph.
